Plum Park Press
WOODBLOCK PRINTING reviews traditional Japanese woodblock printing techniques before going on to teach the reader to make similar prints. The book was written by F. Morley Fletcher, an experienced woodblock printer himself, in 1916. This book makes a good companion for another Plum Park Press book - Japanese Colour-prints and their Designers, and for this reason it is designed to complement the other book.
The book covers such topics as a general description of printing from a set of blocks; a description of the materials and tools required for block-cutting; block-cutting and the planning of blocks; preparation of paper, ink, color, and paste; detailed method of printing, and the principles of designing prints. The book includes many illustrations, plus a set of plates printed on glossy paper for maximum resolution.
The book consists of 204 pages, with overall dimensions of 75 x 75 x 15 mm (2-15/16 x 2-15/16 x 9/16 inches). The edition will be limited to 20 copies, priced $45 each plus $5 for worldwide shipping and handling.
