Washington Matthews was a nineteenth-century ethnographer and linguist who specialized in Native American cultures and languages. Working for the US Bureau of Ethnology, he wrote NAVAJO SILVERSMITHS for publication in the Third Annual Report of the Bureau of Ethnology to the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, 1881-1882. Plum Park Press is proud to present this fascinating study complete as a miniature book, complete with all the original text and illustrations.
The book consists of 60 pages of text and illustrations, plus 12 pages of plates printed on glossy stock for the best resolution.

This book forms a set with a companion PPP book, Navajo Weavers.
The book has overall dimensions of 76 x 60 x 10 mm (3 x 2-3/8 x 7/16 inches). It is bound in violet suedette, wrapped in a purple half-height dust-jacket carrying the title on the front and the spine in silver. The endpapers carry a color photograph of an outstanding example of Navajo silver work.

The edition consists of 20 copies, priced at $40 each, plus $5 for shipping and handling.
