GREAT AFRICAN TRAVELLERS from Mungo Park to Livingstone and Stanley was written by W.H.G. Kingston in 1874, and remains in print to this day. This miniature edition contains the complete book in three volumes, each with many beautiful illustrations printed on glossy paper for the highest resolution. The books are wide to provide the largest possible pictures, and the text is set in dual columns for maximum readability. The book is accompanied by Mitchell's Map of Africa of the same period. This book consists of a single map of the continent that folds out to 260 x 200 mm (10-1/4 x 8 inches), and identifies many of the locations described in Kingston's book. All four volumes are covered in dark brown buckram, with spine labels of gilt lettering on dark green. The books provide a total of 668 pages, and come in a slipcase with overall dimensions of 84 x 70 x 82 mm (3-5/16 x 2-3/4 x 3-1/4 inches).
