A SHROPSHIRE LAD was A. E. Housman's first book of poetry. Published in 1896, it received little attention from "muscular Victorians". But with the outbreak of the Great War in 1914 his observations on the human condition seemed more relavant, and he has remained popular ever since.

LAST POEMS was A. E. Housman's second book of poetry, and was the last published in his lifetime.
