Plum Park Press
In the late nineteenth century, "botanizing" was not the only popular scientific hobby: "geologizing" was also popular. And one of the great books of the period on this subject was called simply GEOLOGY. It was written by a noted authority, James Geikie, and covers mineralogy, petrology, dynamical geology, paleontology, and historical geology. The book is illustrated with 25 elegant line drawings.
To add to its attraction, each book in this edition is uniquely bound, featuring a handsome piece of polished stone (real geology!) set in a recess in the front cover, and with the surrounding bookcloth color-coordinated with the stone. A label on the spine identifies the book in gilt lettering on an appropriately colored background.
The book consists of 240 pages, and has overall dimensions of 74 x 56 x 20 mm (3 x 2-1/4 x 13/16 inches). The Plum Park Press miniature edition of Geikie's GEOLOGY consisted of 12 copies; a second printing is now available in an additional 12 copies. The price is $50, plus $5 for shipping and handling.
