Oscar Wilde wrote THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST in 1895, and this "trivial play for serious people" was a hit from its premier performance, and remains so to this day. Critics at the time hailed the play, and some even saw it as the high point in Wilde's career - a viewpoint that also remains true to this day. There is no doubt that Earnest is perennially Wilde's most popular play, and its satire of Victorian attitudes and institutions remains viable social commentary.

The Plum Park Press miniature edition of this play features a centerfold with four photographs from the original 1985 production, and endpapers showing a sketch of Wilde by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
The book is bound in red faux leather, with decorations in red throughout, such as the curtains that open each act.
The book consists of 200 pages, printed in Cheltenham 7/8. It has overall dimensions of 75 x 63 x16 mm (3 x 2-1/2 x 5/8 inches). The edition will be limited to 20 copies, priced at $50 each plus $5 for shipping and handling.
